2020 CARROLL COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

Carroll County Community Foundation awards more than $245,172 in scholarships for 2020-21 school year

June 12, 2020 -- Twenty students from Carroll County high schools and statewide universities will have help in their studies during the 2020-21 school year, thanks to the Carroll County Community Foundation.

The foundation has awarded scholarships and renewals from funds with an approximate value of $245,172. This includes administering the award and finalists for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. (The Carroll County Community Foundation Scholars group comprises the Lilly finalists.)

“These scholarships are another example of the many donors in our caring community and the value they place on education,” said Dr. Paul Manning, chairman of the Carroll County Community Foundation Services Committee. “In these extraordinary days, this tradition of giving is especially meaningful, given the challenges and the sacrifices so many of the graduating seniors will make this year. Although they may not have a graduation ceremony, they can know the community continues to support and reward their hard work.”

Manning went on to praise those who make the scholarships possible. “We thank and acknowledge our donor community,” he said. “Their generosity and continuing contributions help fund scholarships like these, which are so vital to students and their families.”

The students and the scholarships they were awarded are listed below:

Charles and Alberta Beale Scholarship
Sydney Bordner, daughter of Charles and Wendy Bordner. She is a Carroll High School graduate and plans to attend Purdue University and study agriculture.

Todd Burman Memorial Scholarship
Kelsey Hammond, a Carroll High School graduate, is the daughter of Kevin and Jill Hammond. She plans to study psychology at Indiana University Kokomo.

John and Kathie Connelly Scholarship
Elijah Hudson, a Delphi Community High School graduate, is the son of Micah and Jennifer Hudson. He will attend Indiana Wesleyan University to study business.

Fisher and Associates Accounting Scholarship
Jordyn Gasser, daughter of John and Cassandra Gasser. She is a Delphi Community High School graduate and plans to study business at Ball State University.

Liberty German Scholarship
Rylee Houston, daughter of Jarett and Jennifer Houston. She is a Delphi Community High School graduate and will attend Purdue University to study pre-veterinary medicine.

Carolyn S. Gilbert Scholarship
Bailey Simpson, a Carroll High School graduate, is the daughter of John Simpson and Jennifer Kruse. She will study nursing at Indiana University Kokomo.

IGWA (Indiana Ground Water Association) Joseph L. Armstrong Family in Business Scholarship
Mica Allen is the daughter of Bret and Amy Allen. She graduated from Lakewood Park Christian School in Auburn, Indiana, and will study bio-chemistry at Huntington University.
Megan Maurer graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana. Her parents are Robert and Diane Maurer. She will attend Saint Mary’s College to study biology.

Indiana Packers Scholarship
Scott Ashby graduated from Carroll High School and will study agriculture at Purdue University. His parents are Shawn and Rusty Ashby.
Sydney Bordner, daughter of Charles and Wendy Bordner. She is a Carroll High School graduate and plans to attend Purdue University and study agriculture.
Bryant Mays is a graduate of Delphi Community High School and the son of Roger and Alida Mays. He plans to study agriculture at Purdue University.

Irving E. Manning Scholarship
Renewal recipients this year are Emma Briggs, Darren Dillon and Jason Wright.

Robert & Joan Maxwell Scholarship
Joseph Perry, son of Vincent and Michelle Perry, is a Delphi Community High School graduate. He will study economics at Indiana University.

John McCormick Agricultural Scholarship
Bryant Mays is a graduate of Delphi Community High School and the son of Roger and Alida Mays. He plans to study agriculture at Purdue University.

Mid-North Indiana Executive Committee for Christ Scholarship
Emma Bright graduated from Rossville High School and is the daughter of Brendon and Carrie Bright. She will study education at Purdue University.
Lewis Cass High School graduate Madison Dyke is the daughter of Christopher and Jennifer Dyke and will attend Indiana University Kokomo to study nursing.
Jordan Ladd will study education at Indiana Wesleyan University. He is a Delphi Community High School graduate and the son of Todd and Rhonda Ladd.

Lewis and Hazel Mullin Scholarship
Jordan Ladd will study education at Indiana Wesleyan University. He is a Delphi Community High School graduate and the son of Todd and Rhonda Ladd.

Bill Pearson Scholarship
Bryant Mays is a graduate of Delphi Community High School and the son of Roger and Alida Mays. He plans to study agriculture at Purdue University.

Robeson/Barber Scholarship for Teachers
Receiving a renewal is Mary Beth Piotrowski.

Robert Thornburg Scholarship
Bailey Simpson, a Carroll High School graduate, is the daughter of John Simpson and Jennifer Kruse. She will study nursing at Indiana University Kokomo. 

Abigail Williams Scholarship
Rylee Houston, daughter of Jarett and Jennifer Houston. She is a Delphi Community High School graduate and will attend Purdue University to study pre-veterinary medicine.

Carroll County Community Foundation Scholars

Ayden Ayres, son of Elizabeth Ayres and Adam Ayres. This Carroll High School graduate will attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and study engineering.
