CARROLL COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS
Nonprofit organizations awarded more than $64,600 in 2021
December 29, 2021 -- The Carroll County Community Foundation has awarded more than $64,600 in competitive grants in 2021.
“Carroll County has a variety of nonprofit programs and services that need support,” said Dr. Paul Manning, Chairman of the Carroll County Community Foundation Services Committee. “These grants are awarded from our community endowment unrestricted funds that donors have contributed to with the intent to support needs that benefit the citizens of Carroll County now and in the future. We are grateful for our donors’ foresight and generosity that ensure continued support for the community.”
The following agencies and programs were awarded grants from community endowment unrestricted funds:
$12,000 to Active Care Develops Community will be used to replace the heating and air conditioning system of the Deer Creek Community Center.
$775 to the Burlington Community Library will be used to replace one of the public computers and the laser printer/copy machine/scanner/fax machine.
$10,000 to the Carroll County Chamber Five will be used to support the development and management of a 10-month leadership training series that will assist participants in pursuing leadership positions and volunteer opportunities.
$905 to the Carroll County Community Center is for the purchase of a laser printer and toner to move printing operations in-house rather than leasing equipment.
$3,500 to Delphi Community Schools will be used to transform a prep area into a student body store run by the Life Skills Special Needs students. The grant will be used to install a sliding glass window and to reinstall plumbing and electrical that will allow students to prep and sell products to the student body.
$2,000 to the Family Health Clinic will support the implementation of an emergency food voucher program. Individuals in situational crisis for food insecurity will be provided with a $25 food voucher to immediately redeem at a local grocery store to help bridge the gap until a more sustainable solution is secured.
$4,500 to Food Finders Food Bank supports three additional mobile food pantries in Carroll County for January, February and March 2022.
$15,029 to Freedom Mission will be used for a new HVAC system and snacks for students who attend the youth center.
$4,210 to Heartland Heritage supports masonry restoration of the 1874 one-room Milburn School. This includes tuck pointing and joint repair of the brick exterior and stone foundation of the building.
$6,000 to the L & A Park Foundation will be used for the installation of re-purposed playground equipment and shade structure.
$1,500 to the Tippecanoe Arts Federation supports the development and production of a mural to be dedicated in Burlington.
$2,200 to YMCA Camp Tecumseh will be used for spring tree planting supplies. The trees will be planted throughout the Camp Tecumseh property where old or damaged trees have been removed.
