CARROLL COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS

Nonprofit organizations awarded more than $54,900 in 2020

December 31, 2020 -- The Carroll County Community Foundation has awarded $42,989 in competitive grants and $12,000 in rapid response grants in 2020.

“In addition to our traditional competitive grants, we developed a rapid response grant application for community needs related to COVID-19,” said Dr. Paul Manning, Chairman of the Carroll County Community Foundation Services Committee.  “This allows the Foundation to respond faster to immediate pandemic-related needs outside of our regular grant cycles.  Lilly Endowment Inc. has extended its matching gifts program until Sept. 30, 2021, or until the match is met. For every $1 given to our community endowment unrestricted funds, the Endowment will provide a $2 match. These types of funds support our competitive grants.”

The following agencies and programs were awarded grants from community endowment unrestricted funds:

$3,300 to Camp Tecumseh YMCA to purchase materials to complete the construction of an outdoor pavilion. The pavilion will be used across all programs, especially summer camps and the Outdoor Education program.

$17,375 to Carroll County Chamber FIVE will provide partial funding to replace the roof on the building purchased for the purpose of housing the Rural Innovation Network (RIN) Center in Delphi.

$8,000 to the Carroll County Council on Aging (CCCoA) provides support to help purchase an additional vehicle. CCCoA provides transportation services for seniors and the disabled in Carroll County. The organization transports clients who are homebound or otherwise without access to a vehicle to medical appointments and other health/wellness related checks.

$6,315 to the L & A Park Foundation will be used to purchase materials for the construction of one ball field dugout.

$5,000 to the Town of Burlington for the Burlington Community Park Board will provide support to update the exterior (roof) of the Burlington Community Park Building. This is the final phase of a four-year plan to upgrade the building. The building is rented for weekend activities such as family gatherings, wedding receptions and funeral dinners.
