COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANTS CONTRIBUTE TO CARROLL COUNTY QUALITY OF LIFE

Nonprofit organizations awarded nearly $64,000 so far in 2023

May 19, 2023 – Eleven deserving nonprofit organizations in Carroll County, Indiana, received $63,740 in competitive grants awarded through the Carroll County Community Foundation in the first four months of 2023.

“Carroll County has a variety of nonprofit programs and services that need support,” said Al Jackson, chair of the Carroll County Community Foundation Services Committee. “These grants are awarded from our community endowment unrestricted funds that donors have contributed to with the intent to support needs that benefit the citizens of Carroll County now and in the future. We are grateful for our donors’ foresight and generosity that ensure continued support for the community.”

Building on a quarter-century legacy of growth, the Carroll County Community Foundation celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022 and added a second grant cycle for qualifying nonprofit organizations in the community. This provided two periods during the year when competitive grants are available for worthy and important local causes.

“Expanding the Foundation’s grant-cycle schedule helps non-profit organizations in the county with their annual planning and programs,” Jackson said.
Jackson further noted that because of the second grant cycle, the grant-award totals for just the first quarter of 2023 equaled the total amount awarded in all of 2021 alone. “This additional opportunity during the calendar year for non-profits to apply for and receive assistance helps to ensure a consistent and stable level of support for those needing help throughout the year,” he said.

The following agencies and programs were awarded grants during January to April 2023 from community endowment unrestricted funds (alphabetical by the organizational name):

$7,000 for the “Red Bridge Renovation” project through Carroll Co. Wabash and Erie Canal, Inc.

$10,240 for “Lights, Camera, Action” at Carroll Elementary School.

$2,000 for the Carroll Jr. Sr. High School “Every 15 Minutes Program.”

$2,000 for “HS/MS Life Skills Program - Curriculum Development” at Delphi Community High School.

$6,000 the Food Finders Food Bank’s “Carroll County Mobile Pantry Program.”

$3,000 for the “‘Meat’ The Need” program through Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry.

$5,000 for L & A Park Foundation for the “2023 Park Safety and Security Project.”

$5,000 to Lafayette Transitional Housing Center for “Carroll County homeless outreach and intervention.”

$10,000 for the “Servants at Work” project through Ramps for Carroll County.

$2,500 for “Dog park improvements” at the Town of Burlington.

And $5,000 for “Community Park Tennis/Pickle Ball Courts” at the Town of Flora.
