CLINTON COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS

Non-profit organizations awarded more than $180,000 during first half of 2016

Aug. 9, 2016 -- The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded more than $180,000 in competitive grants during the first half of 2016. 

"These grants are awarded from our unrestricted community endowment funds," said Alan Dunn, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee.  "Unrestricted funds are used to meet pressing and changing needs in the community. Through this community-led philanthropy, grants can be made that improve education, economic opportunity and the quality of life.  We thank our donors for taking a leap of faith and committing to this permanent, self-sustaining source of funding."

The following agencies and programs were awarded grants:

$6,000 to Abilities Services will provide support for the "Green Space and Gardening" project for resident consumers.  At the new home located at 1305 N. John St., resident consumers, family members and other local consumers will be able to enjoy outdoor activities including gardening, outdoor socializing, flower planting and maintenance. Grant money will be used to purchase and install sod, shrubbery, trees, flowers and a raised garden.

$45,000 to the City of Frankfort for the Frankfort Parks Department will provide matching support to rebuild the aviary at TPA Park Petting Zoo. Revitalization includes new support posts, netting and roof structure updates. 

$100,000 to the Clinton County Family YMCA in matching support will be used for the 2016 capital campaign to upgrade the pool and pool area, locker rooms, workout equipment, HVAC equipment, lighting, sidewalks and parking lot.

$4,000 to the Indiana Lions Trust Fund for the Colfax Lions Club will be used to help purchase a new mower that will be used to mow the grounds at the Colfax Lions Club Park. 

$9,000 to Frankfort Baseball will be used to replace chain link fence around the Joe C. Doan field in TPA Park.

$20,410 to The Learning Network of Clinton County and the Clinton County 4-H Advisory Council will be used to purchase sheep gates as part of the enhancement of the Clinton County 4-H Sheep Program.
