2017 CLINTON COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED
Clinton County Community Foundation awards more than $263,630 in scholarships for 2017-18 school year
June 20, 2017 -- The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded 66 scholarships and renewals from 21 funds to Clinton County students with an approximate value of $263,630, including the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. The students were recognized at a Scholarship Reception held on June 1 at Arborwood in Frankfort, Ind. Parents, donors, educators, community volunteers and leaders also attended the event in recognition of the efforts of the students.
"Our donors reach out and connect with students through these scholarships," said Alan Dunn, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. "Donors are looking to the future. They provide financial support that helps the recipients focus on their goals by easing the financial burden. The community is also strengthened through their caring. We thank our donors for this foresight, and encourage the recipients to continue the tradition of giving."
The students and the scholarships they were awarded are listed below:
J. Archibald Memorial Scholarship
Shelby Henry, daughter of Doyle and Sonia Henry, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. She plans to attend Purdue University to study animal science.
Bailey Trucking Company Scholarship
Nevan Freestone, son of Brent and Lanna Freestone, is a Clinton Prairie High School graduate. Nevan plans to attend Trine University to study chemistry.
Cindy Nichols Bailey Scholarship
Bradley Lohsl is a 2013 graduate of Indiana University and is pursuing a law degree at Indiana University's Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
Robert Brinson Scholarship
Shelby Henry, daughter of Doyle and Sonia Henry, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. She plans to attend Purdue University to study animal science.
Rayce Quick, son of Randy and Lori Quick, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. He plans to study agriculture systems management at Purdue University.
Jenny Butler Scholarship
Kailyn Oppelt, daughter of John and Lisa Oppelt, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. She will study nursing at Indiana State University.
Isaiah Wyrick, son of Ra-Jeana Martinez and Dustin Wyrick, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. He plans to attend Indiana University Kokomo and study nursing.
Clinton Central High School Vision Scholarship
Madalynn Flack is the daughter of Cindy Walters and Tony Flack. She will study radiography at Indiana University Kokomo.
Mikayla Passmore is the daughter of Jason and Regina Passmore. She will study nursing at Indiana University Kokomo.
Mary Scott is the daughter of Lance Scott and Carroll Valentino. She will study psychology at Ball State University.
Nash Smith is the son of Clark and Amy Smith. He will study business management at Indiana University Kokomo.
Clarence Cochran Agricultural Scholarship
Rayce Quick, son of Randy and Lori Quick, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. He plans to study agriculture systems management at Purdue University.
Vincent and Lois Dowden Scholarship
Joseph Douglass, son of Angela Robinson and Dan Douglass, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. He plans to attend Trine University and study business.
Anna Fudge Field and Mary S. Field Endowment Scholarship
Diana Hernandez Ramirez, daughter of Tomas Hernandez and Micaela Ramirez, is from Frankfort High School. She plans to attend Ivy Tech Community College to study medical assisting and then plans to attend Indiana University Kokomo to study nursing.
Louise and Robert A. Hedgcock History Essay Scholarship – Frankfort High School
Kamryn Dehn is the daughter of Dan and Jennifer Dehn. Kamryn will attend Purdue Honors College and plans to double major in wildlife science and natural resources in environmental engineering.
Griffin Harris is the son of Nathan and Leesa Harris. Griffin plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University to study ministry.
Kylie Stine is the daughter of John and Traci Stine. She will study health sciences at Butler University.
Vern and Lillian Kaspar Scholarship
Nick Tatum, son of Jeffrey and Dawn Tatum, is a Frankfort High School graduate. Nick will study engineering at Purdue University.
Michigantown High School Alumni Association Scholarship
Kailyn Oppelt, daughter of John and Lisa Oppelt, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. She will study nursing at Indiana State University.
William and Doris Mohr Scholarship
This is a four-year renewable scholarship.
Clinton Central High School
Lauren Ferguson, daughter of Robert Ferguson and Lisa Linnmeier, will be attending Indiana University to study business.
Adalida Keller, daughter of Christian and Charity Keller, plans to study athletic training at Indiana University.
Receiving renewal scholarships are: Katie Crawford, Ryan Ferguson, Logan Flack, Sarah Jacoby, Leilah Miller and Bailey Suhre.
Clinton Prairie High School
Drew Scott, son of Victoria Rutledge and Mickey Scott, will be attending Indiana University to study sports management.
Jared Stillwell, son of Jason and Jennifer Stillwell, will study accounting at Purdue University.
Receiving renewal scholarships are: Jaden Cornell, Lucy Coons, Noah Freestone, Mallorie Humrickhouse, Dylan Stambaugh and Mason Thomas.
Frankfort High School
Kamryn Dehn would like to attend veterinary school to become an exotic animal veterinarian or obtain a degree in engineering and become an Imagineer at Disney.
Pilar Robles is the daughter of Martin and Francisca Robles. She will study graphic design at Ball State University.
Steven Smith is the son of Steven and Amy Smith. He will study cybersecurity at Purdue University.
Nick Tatum would like to use his degree in engineering to make people’s lives better and easier in a permanent way.
Receiving renewal scholarships are: Sofia Byrd, Taylor Dillingham, Allison Emswiller, Erick Figueroa, Anna Garcia, Maricruz Garcia, David Miller, Alexander Rockhold, Zachary Tatum and Isabel Ward.
Rossville High School
Cordell Ford is the son of Scott and Mary Ford. He will study hospitality and tourism management at Ivy Tech Community College.
Matthew Homco is the son of Dennis and Judith Homco. He will attend Purdue University to study business.
Receiving renewal scholarships are: Jessie Blackwell, Lauren Bright, Emma Brown, Zane Gottschalk, Kelly Ruff and Holly Ware.
Mulberry High School Alumni Association Scholarship
Kelsey Dunham attends Purdue University and is studying elementary education.
Kenton Little attends Ball State University and is studying telecommunications.
Wilbur T. Rule Team Player Scholarship
Axel Brandenburg, son of Veronica Brandenburg and Garold Brandenburg, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. He will be attending Ivy Tech Community College and will major in finance.
Key Taulbee, son of Aaron and Brandi Taulbee, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. He will be attending Manchester University to study criminal justice.
Greg A. Scofield Scholarship
Lauren Ferguson, daughter of Robert Ferguson and Lisa Linnmeier, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. She will be attending Indiana University to study business.
Barbara K. Siegfried Scholarship
Hannah McFauls, daughter of Darin and Myra McFauls, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. Hannah will participate in the Ivy Tech Pathways to Purdue Program and will study agriculture education.
Strange Family Scholarship
Shelby Henry, daughter of Doyle and Sonia Henry, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. She plans to attend Purdue University to study animal science.
Phyllis M. Widener Music Scholarship
Receiving renewals are: Isaac Denniston and Annaka Grismer.
J. Allen Wyrick Memorial Scholarship
Grant Deck, son of Kim Deck and the late Michael Deck, is a Clinton Central High School graduate. He plans to attend Purdue University and study agricultural engineering.
Clinton County Community Foundation Scholars
Nevan Freestone, son of Brent and Lanna Freestone, is from Clinton Prairie High School. Nevan plans to attend Trine University to study chemistry.
Emma McCarty, daughter of Bryan and Tone McCarty, is from Clinton Central High School. She will attend Trine University to study chemistry.
Veronica Navarrete, daughter of Rosalio Navarette and Olivia Salazar, is from Frankfort High School. She will attend Hanover College to study psychology.
Wynn Smith, son of Jennee Lawhorn and the late Philip Smith, is from Rossville High School. He will study computer science at Purdue University.
Rosetta Tolley, daughter of Brian and Marcia Tolley, is from Clinton Prairie High School. She will study pharmacy at Ohio Northern University.
Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship
Nolan Anderson, son of Nathan and Connie Anderson, is from Rossville High School. He will study engineering at Purdue University.
