COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANTS CONTRIBUTE TO HOWARD COUNTY QUALITY OF LIFE

Nonprofit organizations awarded nearly $351,000 so far in 2023

May 19, 2023 – A dozen deserving nonprofit organizations in Howard County, Indiana, received $350,875 in competitive grants awarded through the Community Foundation of Howard County in the first four months of 2023.

“Howard County has a variety of nonprofit programs and services that need support,” said Teresa Devaul, chair of the Community Foundation Board of Directors. “These grants are awarded from our community endowment unrestricted funds that donors have contributed to with the intent to support needs that benefit the citizens of Howard County now and in the future. We are grateful for our donors’ foresight and generosity that ensure continued support for the community.”

The following agencies and programs were awarded grants during January to April 2023 from community endowment unrestricted funds (alphabetical by the organizational name):

$3,000 to Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services, Inc. for their “Covering Kids and Families of Area Five Agency” program.

$8,430 to Curtain Call, Inc. for “Governance Board Training and Spring Programming Support.”

$1,000 to Foster Faith, Inc., “Staying clean and healthy” program.

$41,000 to Gilead House, Inc. for an “Upgraded Kitchen.”

$43,725 to the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance, Inc. for the “Korean Soft Landing” project.

$5,000 to Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry for the “‘Meat’ The Need” program.

$50,000 to Hope for the Hurting: “Renovations for Women's Home.”

$3,500 to Indiana University Kokomo for the “Nikki Giovanni- Poet visit to IUK” event.

$60,000 to Kokomo Urban Outreach, “Transportation” needs.

$100,000 to Narrow Gate Horse Ranch for the “Indoor Arena.”

$12,000 to Project Access Howard County, Inc. for “Project Access Intake Service.”

$23,220 to Servants at Work for “Ramps for Howard County” project.

The Community Foundation of Howard County, Inc. was formed as a not-for-profit public charity in March 1991. The Foundation seeks to serve donors and make grants to benefit the citizens of Howard County.
