2013 CARROLL COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

Carroll County Community Foundation awards more than $227,000 in scholarships for 2013-14 school year

June 12, 2013 -- The Carroll County Community Foundation has awarded 16 scholarships and renewals from nine funds to Carroll County students with an approximate value of $227,000, including the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.

“Our donors create scholarships through the Foundation because they have a passion to help students pursue the career of their choice at the school of their choice,” said Dr. Greg Norman, chairman of the Carroll County Community Foundation Services Committee.  “Donors also want students to know that their community is supporting them. We hope this encouragement builds confidence as they pursue their goals.”

The students and the scholarships they were awarded are listed below:

John and Kathie Connelly Scholarship

Mariah McCauslin, daughter of James McCauslin and stepdaughter of Nicole McCauslin, is a graduate of Delphi Community High School. She will study psychology at DePauw University.

Carolyn S. Gilbert Scholarship

Courtney Benefiel, daughter of James and Deena Benefiel, is a Carroll High School graduate. She will be attending Purdue University to study psychology.

Indiana Packers Scholarship

Erik Carpenter, son of Robert and Norma Carpenter, is a graduate of Delphi Community High School. He plans to attend Purdue University to study agribusiness. 

Gabriella Gunn, daughter of Jeremy and Shelly Norman, is a graduate of Delphi Community High School. She plans to attend Purdue University and study veterinary medicine. 

Irving E. Manning Scholarship

Kylie Wagoner, daughter of Scott and Michelle Wagoner, is a Carroll High School graduate. She plans to attend Purdue University to study agriculture economics. 

Receiving renewal scholarships from the Irving E. Manning Scholarship Fund are:

Drew McCombs, a 2012 graduate, and son of Doug McCombs and Karen Green. Drew attends Purdue University.

Shelby Spray, a 2011 graduate, and daughter of Don and Margie Spray.  Shelby attends the University of Southern Indiana. 

Andrew Miller, a 2010 graduate, and son of David and Tracy Miller.  Andrew attends Vincennes University.

Robert & Joan Maxwell Scholarship

John Smith, son of John and Sharon Smith, is a Delphi Community High School graduate. He plans to attend Purdue University to study chemical engineering.

John and Mary McCormick Agricultural Scholarship

Erik Carpenter, son of Robert and Norma Carpenter, is a graduate of Delphi Community High School.  Erik plans to attend Purdue University to study agribusiness.

Mid-North Indiana Executive Committee for Christ Scholarship

Lindsay Davis is the daughter of Jesse and Lori Davis and is a Clinton Central High School graduate. She plans to study nursing. 

Paige Spesard is the daughter of Lance and Debra Spesard and is a Carroll High School graduate.  She will study health sciences at Purdue University. 

Stephen Whitlock is the son of Adrian and Elaine Whitlock and is a graduate of Pioneer High School. He will study exercise science at the University of Indianapolis.

Lewis and Hazel Mullin Scholarship

Adam Marvell, son of Leann Marvell, is a Delphi Community High School graduate. Adam will study soil science at Purdue University.

Bill Pearson Scholarship

David Veach, son of Kenny and Susan Hill, is a graduate of Delphi Community High School. He will study agriculture education at Purdue University. 

Dorothy Stark Scholarship

Shelbi Fisher, daughter of Kendall and Jodi Fisher, is a graduate of Carroll High School. She plans to attend Indiana University to study occupational therapy. 

Robert Thornburg Scholarship

Alex Luzadder, son of Tim and Kelly Luzadder, will study nursing at Indiana University Kokomo. 

Carroll County Community Foundation Scholars

Lilly Endowment Community Scholar

Tallis Bowers, son of Troy and Alice Bowers, is a Carroll High School graduate. Tallis plans to attend the University of Notre Dame to study mathematics.
