2014 CARROLL COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

Carroll County Community Foundation awards more than $64,500 in scholarships for 2014-15 school year

June 10, 2014 -- The Carroll County Community Foundation has awarded 18 scholarships and renewals from 11 funds to Carroll County students with an approximate value of $64,500, including the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.

“Our donors want to have a positive influence on their community by supporting students as they work to achieve their goals,” said Dr. Greg Norman, chairman of the Carroll County Community Foundation Services Committee. “With this financial support and encouragement, students can concentrate on their ambitions. We are proud to be a part of this process and to assist donors as they share their passion for giving.”

The students and the scholarships they were awarded are listed below:

John and Kathie Connelly Scholarship

Jason Sterrett, son of Darrell and Laura Sterrett, is a graduate of Delphi Community High School. He plans to attend Indiana Tech.

Carolyn S. Gilbert Scholarship

Taylor Miller, daughter of Jamey and Christina Miller, is a Carroll High School graduate. She will be attending Indiana State University to study nursing.

Indiana Packers Scholarship

Karlee Sparks, daughter of Jerry and Karen Sparks, is a graduate of Delphi Community High School. She plans to study agri-business through the Pathway to Purdue partnership offered by Purdue University College of Agriculture and Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette.

Irving E. Manning Scholarship

Justin Willoughby, son of James and Melody Willoughby, is a Carroll High School graduate. He plans to attend Purdue University and study computer engineering.

 Receiving renewal scholarships from the Irving E. Manning Scholarship Fund are:

Kylie Wagoner, a 2013 graduate, and daughter of Scott and Michelle Wagoner. She attends Purdue University.

Drew McCombs, a 2012 graduate, and son of Doug McCombs and Karen Green. Drew attends Purdue University.

Shelby Spray, a 2011 graduate, and daughter of Don and Margie Spray. Shelby attends the University of Southern Indiana. 

Robert & Joan Maxwell Scholarship

Whitley Lehr, daughter of Darin and Tana Lehr, is a Delphi Community High School graduate. She plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University to study nursing.

Mid-North Indiana Executive Committee for Christ Scholarship

Joanna Marshall is the daughter of Mark and Lucy Marshall and is a Pioneer High School graduate. She will study biology at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Breann Morrow is the daughter of Theresa Roberts and stepdaughter of Curt Roberts and is a Carroll High School graduate. She plans to study dental hygiene at Indiana University Kokomo.

Amy Murphy is the daughter of David and Ginny Murphy and is a Rossville High School graduate. She will study health and human services at Purdue University. 

Lewis and Hazel Mullin Scholarship

Mikyla Carr is the daughter of Darren Carr and Anjela Klinkhamer and is a graduate of Delphi Community High School. She will attend Indiana State University to study oncology nursing.

Bill Pearson Scholarship

Karlee Sparks, daughter of Jerry and Karen Sparks, is a graduate of Delphi Community High School. She plans to study agri-business through the Pathway to Purdue partnership offered by Purdue University College of Agriculture and Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette. 

Dorothy Stark Scholarship

Jacqueline Hensley, daughter of Rodney and Teresa Hensley, is a graduate of Delphi Community High School. She plans to attend the University of Indianapolis to study nursing.

Robert Thornburg Scholarship

Alexander Plank, son of Jim and Benita Plank, is a graduate of Carroll High School. He will study mechanical engineering technology at Purdue University.

Carroll County Community Foundation Scholars

Whitley Lehr, daughter of Darin and Tana Lehr, is a Delphi Community High School graduate. She plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University to study nursing.

Brett Miller, son of Chris and Rachel Miller, is a Carroll High School graduate. He plans to attend Purdue University to study mechanical engineering.

Bransen Shidler, son of William and Jean Shidler, is a Delphi Community High School graduate. He will study computer graphics at Purdue University.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholar

Bryer Houston, son of Jarett and Jennifer Houston, is a Delphi Community High School graduate. Bryer plans to attend Purdue University to study engineering.
