$500,000 OFFERED THROUGH THE CARROLL COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Funds from Lilly Endowment Inc. supports Indiana community foundations
Oct. 3, 2014 -- The Carroll County Community Foundation has announced an opportunity for donors to participate in a matching gift initiative that is designed to build endowment assets and increase grantmaking capabilities in the community. Donations to unrestricted funds will be matched $1 for $1. Donations to the Community Foundation’s other types of funds will be matched $1 for every $2 given.
The match funding is offered to the Foundation through the Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) VI program, an initiative of Lilly Endowment Inc. The Endowment designed the match incentive to be more favorable to unrestricted funds so community foundations could improve the quality of life in their communities – through economic development, education, health, human services, environment, and arts and culture. Carroll County qualifies for a match of up to $500,000, and the initiative runs through March 31, 2016.
“This match has given donors a philanthropic opportunity to serve the community now and for generations to come,” said Dr. Greg Norman, chairman of the Carroll County Community Foundation Services Committee. “Grants awarded through our unrestricted funds meet current needs and support nonprofit work that has long-lasting impact. Recent grants from our unrestricted funds include support to the Wabash and Erie Canal Interpretive Center, Carroll County Community Center and Carroll County Historical Society. We have the potential to increase funds available for grants and support more programs through the match.”
Gifts through charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts also qualify during the match period. These types of gifts make it possible to receive an income during the donor’s lifetime or for a number of years and a portion of the gift qualifies for the GIFT VI matching funds. If you would like to know more about how these gift plans can help you secure your personal financial goals and make a gift with greater impact, contact us. All inquiries are confidential.
The Carroll County Community Foundation was established in 1997 as a not-for-profit charitable organization governed by a volunteer board of local citizens.
