CARROLL COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS
Nonprofit organizations awarded $49,468 in 2018
Dec. 27, 2018 -- The Carroll County Community Foundation has awarded $49,468 in competitive grants to Carroll County nonprofit organizations in 2018. The grants are awarded in six areas of interest: arts and culture, human services, civic affairs, health, education and community beautification.
“These grants are made from our unrestricted community endowment funds,” said Dr. Greg Norman, chairman of the Carroll County Community Foundation Services Committee. “For a limited time, we are in a match period that will increase our grantmaking capabilities by building our endowment assets. For every $1 given to our community endowment unrestricted funds, Lilly Endowment Inc. will provide a $2 match. What a great opportunity to have your giving increased and support the services and programs provided by nonprofits that are so important to our community.”
The following agencies and programs were awarded grants from community endowment unrestricted funds:
$1,305 to the Carroll County Community Center will be used to purchase a treadmill and chairs for the Silver Sneaker fitness classes.
$900 to CDC Resources provides partial support to purchase program materials and digital resources that will be used to implement training covering health, dating and personal relationships geared specifically for the learning styles of the developmentally disabled.
$21,190 to the Carroll County Promise through Camp Tecumseh supports the Carroll County Promise college savings program.
$4,370 to Delphi Opera House provides partial support for card readers for security and audio-visual equipment for use during performances.
$5,000 to the Delphi Preservation Society will be used to preserve the Delphi Opera House stage wall including the historic information and decoration. Conservation will halt deterioration, stabilize the condition of the wall and preserve the historic significance of the wall.
$2,050 to the Delphi Public Library will be used to purchase virtual reality headsets, a laptop and software. Library patrons will have the opportunity to experience the arts, science, travel and more. The equipment is mobile and could be used at schools and nursing homes.
$5,653 to Heartland Heritage supports the preservation of Milburn School. Grant money will be used to purchase, install and paint windows and doors. Milburn School will be available as a community gathering place for activities.
$2,000 to Servants at Work (SAW’s) will be used to buy materials needed to construct wheelchair ramps for two Carroll County residents. All work is completed by volunteers.
$5,000 to the Town of Burlington for the Burlington Community Park Board provides partial support to remodel the main hall at the Burlington Community Club. Grant funds will be used for new flooring, paint, woodwork, ceiling tiles and electrical outlets.
