DONORS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE CARROLL COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION'S $500,000 LILLY ENDOWMENT INC. GIFT MATCH INITIATIVE
May 20, 2016 -- Thanks to donors in Carroll County, a $500,000 match initiative has reached successful completion for the Carroll County Community Foundation.
Lilly Endowment Inc. announced the Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) match initiative for Indiana community foundations in August 2014, with a completion date of March 31, 2016.
“Thanks to our donors, it is exciting to announce the success of the $500,000 match campaign,” said Paul Manning, chairman of the Carroll County Community Foundation Services Committee. “Our donors have been steady givers to the Foundation and they really stepped up to make sure the match funds became permanent assets to support Carroll County’s future. This was a great opportunity to hear from longstanding friends and to make new ones. We look forward to continuing those relationships.”
The match initiative was offered by Lilly Endowment to build community endowment unrestricted funds. Simply put, these funds support current needs in the community and make sure money is available for future needs. The successful match brings in an additional $40,000 in annual grant dollars.
Examples of recent projects supported through grantmaking from community endowment unrestricted funds include:
-The Flora Community Club to assist in remodeling and expanding the 4-H building and support for this year’s Bicentennial Pop-Up Gallery Project.
-Heartland Heritage for the “Carroll County One-Room Schools” project throughout Carroll County.
-Adams Mill historical landmark for marketing materials, development of an interpretative plan and exhibits that engage children.
-Town of Flora Park for playground equipment that will be enjoyed by children and families who visit the park for numerous family reunions and county events.
-Delphi Preservation Society for warming kitchen equipment that will allow the Opera House facility to serve as a community center.
The match also benefitted other types of Foundation funds. These endowed funds support charitable organizations as identified by donors.
The Carroll County Community Foundation was established in 1997 as a not-for-profit charitable organization governed by a volunteer board of local citizens. Its purpose is to serve the interests of donors, to make grants and to act as a catalyst around issues of community importance in Carroll County.
