CLINTON COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS
Non-profit organizations awarded more than $21,700 during first half of 2015
July 7, 2015 — The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded more than $21,700 in competitive grants during the first half of 2015.
“These grants are awarded from our unrestricted community endowment funds,” said Alan Dunn, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. “These grants illustrate the flexibility and importance of unrestricted funds in connecting resources with initiatives and causes that are important to our community today, while still allowing the Foundation to consider future community needs that cannot be anticipated. To bolster our unrestricted grantmaking ability, the Foundation is partnering with Lilly Endowment’s Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow program to offer a match initiative until March 31, 2016. For every $1 given to an unrestricted community endowment fund, the match will be $1 – this doubles your giving. Clinton County qualifies for a $500,000 match. If the match is met, an extra $1 million will be put to work in the Clinton County community.”
The following agencies and programs were awarded grants:
$4,000 to the Clinton County Commissioners for the Clinton Circuit Court provides support for the "Why Try" school convocation program. Internationally recognized speaker Christian Moore will speak at Clinton County middle and high schools to assist students with decision-making and resiliency. The goal of the project is to reach young students before they end up in the juvenile justice system.
$1,000 to COACH Kids of Clinton County will be used for marketing materials that will help present the message and need of COACH Kids via social media and personal presentations. Hardware will also be purchased to better connect the school-based mentors (Local Heroes) to the program coordinator.
$1,575 to Frankfort Baseball will be used to prepare and install durable flooring in the concession stand and in restrooms.
$1,200 to the Frankfort Community Public Library will be used to purchase Bluetooth receipt printers, barcode scanners and scanner chargers. The library will be adding a web-based component to its integrated library system, allowing patrons to register for library cards and check out materials anywhere with Internet access. This allows the expansion of services to nursing and retirement communities, daycare and preschool centers, community events and outside programming.
$4,000 to the Learning Network of Clinton County sponsors the 2015-16 inaugural class of Clinton County Leadership Development. The purpose of the program is to empower Clinton County residents with community leadership training, develop candidates for elected office through exposure to all aspects of the community, and build capacity for civic engagement among potential nonprofit board members, workforce representatives and community volunteers.
$10,000 to St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital will be used to purchase LED exam lights, allowing for minimal heat production and increasing the physician's field of vision when diagnosing and treating patients in the emergency room.
