DONORS BUILD A BETTER FUTURE FOR CLINTON COUNTY RESIDENTS

Gifts to the Clinton County Community Foundation will be matched by Lilly Endowment

September 30, 2015 -- Donors wanting to support local nonprofits can have their contributions doubled if they give through the Clinton County Community Foundation during Lilly Endowment’s Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT) match initiative.

"With this match, a donation that is made to a community endowment unrestricted fund will be matched $1 for $1 – the donation is doubled – $50 becomes $100," said Alan Dunn, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. "Lilly Endowment announced this opportunity last August and we are eligible for a $500,000 match.  So far, contributions from donors are eligible for $110,000 towards the match. We have until March 31, 2016, to reach our goal."

Income from these funds is used in the Foundation’s competitive grants process that supports worthwhile programs and projects in the community now and forever.  From these funds, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $2,155,800 to Clinton County nonprofits in competitive grants since 1997. Some of the projects and programs supported through the competitive grants program include:

--Healthy Communities of Clinton County in support of the Infant Mortality Prenatal Care Program with a goal to reduce premature births, improve birth weight and educate mothers.

--Clinton County Boys & Girls Club to help purchase a bus to transport children who want to participate in activities such as after school homework help, games, exercise programs and craft projects.

--Town of Rossville to replace a play structure with new climbing structures to create a safe and challenging environment and promote a healthy lifestyle for children.

--Ivy Tech Community College for the Frankfort campus to ensure accessibility to education for all.

--Camp Cullom (Clinton Co. Foundation for Youth) for benches for the disc golf course, historic lodge fireplace refurbishment and to help purchase an observatory telescope.

"These funds provide a permanent source of income to respond to changing needs/times and initiate, enrich, and sustain programs and services that enhance the quality of life," said Dunn."I want to thank our donors for their foresight and generosity and ask them to consider giving to the Foundation during this match period."

Donations to the Foundation’s other types of funds will be matched $.50 for every $1. A successful match will lead to an additional $40,000 in annual grant dollars.

Gifts through charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts also qualify for the match.  For more information about the Clinton County Community Foundation and the match, call (800) 964-0508 or e-mail info@cfclinton.org.
