CLINTON COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTSNon-profit organizations awarded more than $46,724 during second half of 2015
November 24, 2015 — The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded $46,724 in competitive grants during the second half of 2015. Combined with the first half total of $21,700, this brings the total of competitive grants awarded to $68,424 for the year.
“These grants are made from our community endowment unrestricted funds,” said Alan Dunn, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. “We are in a match period that will increase our grantmaking capabilities by building our endowment assets. For every $1 given to our community endowment unrestricted funds, Lilly Endowment will match with a $1. A successful match will lead to an additional $40,000 in annual grant dollars that will be put to work in our community. What a great opportunity to have your giving doubled and support the services and programs that are so important to our community.”
The following agencies and programs were awarded competitive grants:
$2,500 to Abilities Services will be used to purchase two, three-wheel bicycles with helmets that will be used by consumers with developmental disabilities. Grant money will also be used to launch a summer program for high school students who are diagnosed with a developmental disability.
$8,500 to the American Red Cross (West Central Chapter) provides support to implement a residential fire preparedness campaign in Clinton County. The American Red Cross and volunteers will equip homes with smoke alarms, replace batteries, provide fire safety education and help households develop an escape plan.
$7,159 to the Boys & Girls Club of Clinton County will be used to purchase laptops/tablets and software for a tech center. New technology will allow volunteer mentors to more efficiently help members with homework/tutoring.
$15,000 to the Clinton County Economic Advancement Foundation for Healthy Communities of Clinton County will provide funding support for the "Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan” project. The project will provide residents and visitors with safe places for healthy activities as well as point to quality of life improvements for Clinton County.
$2,500 to Kirklin Public Library supports the conversion of the children's program room into a "map room." Three full walls will be canvassed with high-quality mural maps of Indiana, the United States, and the world. The maps will be a resource for education, information, culture, and recreation for all residents.
$11,065 to the Clinton County Commissioners for the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department will be used to purchase a hostage negotiation throw phone and a tactical pole camera that will be used by SWAT Team personnel faced with high risk situations in Clinton County.
