CLINTON COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS
Non-profit organizations awarded more than $72,631 during second half of 2017
Dec. 11, 2017 -- The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded $72,631 in competitive grants during the second half of 2017. Combined with the first half total of $92,000, this brings the total of competitive grants awarded to $164,631 for the year.
“Donor generosity has allowed the Clinton County Community Foundation to support these worthwhile projects in Clinton County,” said Alan Dunn, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. “Through their contributions to community endowment unrestricted funds, donors have entrusted us to award grants to nonprofit organizations that will benefit the community now and in the future. This foresight has established their legacy in Clinton County and we thank them for their lasting charitable gifts.”
The following agencies and programs were awarded competitive grants:
$2,191 to the City of Frankfort for the Frankfort Police Department will provide support for the "Impaired Teen Driving" program. The Frankfort Police Department is creating a program to work with young students to reduce and deter the consumption of alcohol and illegal drugs. The project will target youth between the ages of 13 to 19 years in the Community Schools of Frankfort. Grant money will be used purchase a pedal cart "Drunk Buster Classic" package, including additional goggles and a DVD portraying a passenger paralyzed from a car crash with a driver who was under the influence. The device will also be available to the Clinton County Sheriff's Department for use in the county schools.
$18,000 to the Clinton Central School Corporation for the Clinton Central Summer Swim Club will be used to upgrade the Clinton Central Aquatic Center with the installation of six new starting blocks, foot chocks, grab rails, and a wireless starting system connected to a wireless scoreboard. The Aquatic Center serves the school district, including adults rehabbing from surgery, student groups learning to snorkel, life guard trainings, water therapy for children with arthritis, the summer swim program, and the junior and senior high school swim teams.
$24,840 to the Clinton County Commissioners for the Clinton County 4-H Fair will be used to purchase and install audio/video equipment inside the main meeting room of the Community Building.
$1,100 to the Food Finders Food Bank provides partial funding for mobile food pantry distribution for one year.
$15,000 to Frankfort Main Street will be used to purchase a trailer to transport people to community events in downtown Frankfort and to build a permanent structure to shelter people waiting for transportation. The Polar Express could also be utilized for surrounding festivals in Kirklin, Rossville, Colfax, Michigantown and Mulberry.
$7,500 to the Town of Michigantown will be used to repave the town’s basketball court.
$4,000 to the Town of Mulberry will be used to replace trees in the town’s park, including assorted hardwood and ornamental trees.
