CLINTON COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS
Non-profit organizations awarded $63,100 during second half of 2016
December 28, 2016 -- The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded $63,100 in competitive grants during the second half of 2016. Combined with the first half total of $184,410, this brings the total of competitive grants awarded to $247,510 for the year.
"Clinton County has a variety of interests and projects to support," said Alan Dunn, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. "These grants are awarded from our community endowment unrestricted funds that donors have contributed to with the intent to support needs that benefit the citizens of Clinton County now and in the future. We are grateful for our donors' foresight and generosity that ensures continued support for the community."
The following agencies and programs were awarded competitive grants:
$2,500 to the Bridge (Kirklin Youth Center) provides seed money to establish an after-school program at the Kirklin Youth Center for teens grades 6-12. Grant money will be used for program start-up costs including printer equipment, marketing and class/activities costs. In addition to the after-school tutoring and homework assistance, classes and activities will include wood working, mechanics and cooking.
$18,750 to Clinton County Boys and Girls Club will provide matching support to retire the building debt. Reducing the building debt will allow the Club to enhance programming activities, add staff and improve the facilities to accommodate membership needs.
$8,000 to the Clinton County Economic Advancement Foundation provides funding to relocate the Jonson Fountain to the Old Stoney building.
$8,000 to Clinton Prairie School Corporation will be used to purchase Education Google Expedition Kits. Google's new platform called Expeditions allows teachers to take their students on 3-D virtual reality field trips around the world.
$850 to the Friends of the Frankfort Library supports the March 4, 2017, "Women's Expo" celebrating women and women-owned businesses. The goal of the expo is to provide a venue for women entrepreneurs in Clinton County and surrounding areas to promote economic development as well as networking opportunities.
$15,000 to the On-Stage Foundation for Red Barn Theatre will be used to replace the roof, part of the siding and the lighting board inside the theatre.
$10,000 to the Town of Rossville will be used to replace and upgrade the basketball court at the Town Park. The project will improve the playing surface and lighting around the court.
