CLINTON COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS
Non-profit organizations awarded more than $24,500 during first half of 2013
July 30, 2013 — The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded more than $24,500 in competitive grants during the first half of 2013.
"Our community is fortunate to have organizations that provide vital support services," said John Shoup, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee. "We partner with our donors in philanthropy and help them to connect with their community so they can support the good work of our nonprofit sector. We thank the donors, organizations and volunteers for working to improve our community now and in the future."
The following agencies and programs were awarded grants:
$8,000 to the Clinton County Boys and Girls Club provides support to upgrade the organization’s art room facilities.
$1,000 to the Clinton County Contractual Public Library provides funding for the Mulberry Community Library’s demonstration rain garden project. The rain garden would transform the library's existing water detention pond into a living rain garden display that will filter water, prevent runoff, add ascetic value, and provide space for local plants, wildlife and pollinators. Funds will be used to purchase plant plugs to cover the current detention basin's floor. This will enable the rain garden to come into fruition faster and allow the public earlier access to rain garden educational activities and library programs.
$6,500 to the Clinton County Family YMCA will be used to purchase four educational computer workstations for use in the daycare center. The computers will be equipped with educational software appropriate for both preschool and elementary age children.
$6,000 to the Colfax Lions Club provides funding for phase three of the Colfax Lions Park renovations project. Funds will be used towards labor costs, material for two little league dugouts, concrete floors, pea gravel, and fencing for dugouts and sidelines.
$3,000 to the Frankfort Swim Club will provide funding support to purchase a Dolphin wireless stopwatch timing system and a laptop computer. The equipment will help to increase swim meet efficiency, improve data management and timing accuracy.
