LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS LEARN ABOUT BENEFITS OF CLINTON COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION'S LEGACY SOCIETY

On-Stage Foundation, COACH Kids and Rainbow Haven win monetary awards1

November 28, 2011 — More than 120 board and staff members from 19 Clinton County nonprofit organizations attended the Clinton County Community Foundation’s "Legacy Society" lunch held Nov. 17 at Hawthorn Hall & Gardens in Frankfort, Ind. During the lunch, participants learned about the advantages of donors establishing an endowed fund through the Foundation that would benefit their organization and community now and forever.

The event also included a special monetary drawing for organizations that had five or more board members in attendance. Through the drawing, On-Stage Foundation received $5,000, COACH Kids received $3,000 and Rainbow Haven Transitional Housing received $2,000 to be placed in each organization’s endowed fund at the Foundation.

Lewis Fox, president of the On-Stage Foundation and Red Barn Summer Theater board, was surprised when his organization’s name was announced as a winner. “Wow, I can’t believe we were selected,” he said. “This can be used as seed money for other folks to support the Red Barn."

The Legacy Society recognizes those forward thinking individuals who have remembered a fund within the Foundation in their estate planning. It also strengthens and provides permanent financial stability for a variety of funds established by donors to support charitable programs that benefit the community. Currently, 27 Clinton County nonprofit organizations are supported by endowed funds through the Foundation’s Legacy Society.

Another service the Community Foundation offers is a free will planning guide that is designed to help individuals as they prepare to work with their estate planning advisors. Contact the Foundation at 800-964-0508 or visit the Web site at www.cfclinton.org for a free copy of the will planning guide. Foundation staff members are also available to work with individuals and advisors to answer any questions about considering a charitable organization as a recipient of a gift in a will.

The Clinton County Community Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organization created in 1996.
